Eva Ibbotson is my favourite author. I have read all her books and a lot of other ones to but this is my favourite book ever! 4.5 stars
The original title of this book is more descriptive. The historical setting of Ibbotson's novels are educational, the read entertaining.
Slow for most of the book but the end makes up for it!
beinging slow but.............................. BEST BOOK EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) ;) :) ;) :) :) ;) :) ;) :) ;) :) ;) :) ;) :) ;)
i did'nt quite like the beginning and the book isnt phrased correctly-but nevertheless a very happy ending.
I didn't even get past the first two chapters. I felt the writing was too "sophisticated" for me and therefore bore me. But maybe you'll look past that and enjoy it.
this book was really good...great plot...keeps you hooked until the very end

A nicely written, hugely enjoyable adventure through a turbulent England in the mid 1900s. A modern fairytale suitable for all ages.
Procrastination thinks this title is suitable for 11 years and over
