This collection is dark but intriguing. The first story, about a suburban couple that decides to smoke crack while their children are away was the first piece of Homes' that caught my eye. Yes there are some in this book that are a bit uncomfortable and slightly pornographic, but it's still worth the read for the gems in here.
The literary equivalent of the films Todd Solondz and Neil LaBute made in the 90s: ugly, unpleasant, drab. In one story, a dude gets it on with a Barbie doll. Sick man!
Was never a fan of the short stories until this books.
A good, solid 3-star collection bracketed by two absolute 5-star stories: "Adults Alone" and "A Real Doll." Definitely hit those two.
