Still the gold standard in technothrillers.

I LOVE THIS BOOK SOO MUCH!!!!! I love how Clancy brings all these ships, & people, & airplanes, & helicopters, & countries together into a complicated shuffle, and moves them around with the slow, careful maneuvering of a master chessman. It's almost like you're Agent Smith, taking on the bodies, minds, and lives of these people for only a couple paragraphs, but getting to know them even in these short segments. MUST...READ...MORE!!!!!!

Very well written and interesting, however Clancy lacks the nerve tingling suspense that I like. There was hardly any action at all. But, its very true and the info is perfect. Fairly good experience for my first Clancy book.

Thought somewhat dated by technological advances, this novel will still thrill. Clancy gives a great unpredictable ride with the reader always on the edge.

I felt the book to be too dragging and slow. The ending was a real thriller. I had to skip a few pages from time to time which I felt just increases the book size with nothing much to offer. I am not that impressed with the book and do not feel like reading another Tom Clancy book.

If you like the cold war you will love this book. I like the fact that there were so meany ships in that one part of the ocean. To enjoy some parts you realy have to know the subs and military stuff wich I find realy interesting.

I found this book boring. The beginning was good and the end was good. The middle, eh. This may very well be due to the fact that this novel was very technical and I was not familiar with a lot of the sub and naval terms. I did find the whole cat and mouse game between the US and Soviet navies interesting though.

This is such a good book. I would almost dare say that it's a classic

Violence: There is one shoot out in the book. The rest of the interaction between navies is all ploys to warn and egg each other on.
