I was disappointed. The story is line is not accurate. I prefer when at least the history stays as close to the Bible as possible but this was way out.

The men are rugged, the women fresh from the salon and are they speaking with British accents? Hollywood knows no limits.
Filmed in Morocco.

One of my students recommended "The Red Tent" to me because I enjoy historical fiction. All of the characters became multi-dimensional as the story revealed itself little by little. The relational chart in the front of the book is essential to tracking the cast. Dinah and crew will have you cheering, cringing and crying.

I love the settings and the romance of the Shepard girl falling in love with a prince. However it was hard for me to keep track of all the relationships in the story. I don't know the bible very well, so it left me wondering if the events were before Moses or after with Egypt in the story.

not as good as the book but I enjoyed the cinematography

Based on the novel, not the bible... it didn't really captivate me in any way...gave up half way.

I loved this movie - it was better than any other biblical-based movies I've seen. If it HAD been a factual biblical offering, I would NOT have been interested. It is a good woman's story ('story').
Loved the movie, now will read the book... ***** (five stars!)

Too much on the worship of idols by Rachel, Leah, and Jacob's other wives. The red tent is based on their trysts with the idols, and each other. I did enjoy the cameraderie amongst the wives. Biblical accurancy is questionable...

The Jacob/Esau/Joseph (not to mention Rebecca, Leah, and Rachel) passages of the Bible are one of the few parts that hang together as an interesting, human story, apart from religion. Unfortunately, the story of Jacob and Leah's daughter, Dinah, is sparsely told, and is filled in here with -- guess what! -- a spunky, ahead of her time Mary Sue. I don't want to put this program down too much, because there are some good performances and efforts to flesh out the story. But mostly, it's a lot of improbably pretty people wandering in a desert.
