In the crisp, early hours of an autumn morning, the police are called to investigate two deaths. The first is a suspected murder at a farm on the outskirts of a small village. A beautiful young woman has been found dead, her cottage drenched with blood. The second is a reported suicide at a nearby quarry. A car with a woman's body inside was found at the bottom of the pit. As DI Louisa Smith and her team gather evidence, they discover a shocking link between the two cases and the two deaths--a bond that sealed their terrible fates one cold night, under a silent moon.

I really enjoyed "Into the Darkest Corner" , found "Revenge of the Tide" to be OK, but "Under a Silent Moon" was boring. With so many fantastic books waiting to be read, I won't be bothering with this author anymore.

Honestly, I didn't make it past the first few chapters. Too many characters were introduced, and I couldn't keep track.

If you love British mysteries on dvd, you will love this book! It takes you from the investigation room to the murder scene and you feel like you are part of the team. I could not put this down.

When you're more interested in completing your grocery list than in the novel you're reading, you know it's time to give up on an author. Loved her first book, Into the Darkest Corner, disliked her second, Dark Tide, thought the third, Human Remains, uneven, and now this -- dull plot and uninteresting characters. Nothing new or shining here.

Much stronger than her past few books; DCI Louisa Smith has all the makings of a great character, even if she makes the mistake of looking for her relationships at work. While I could have done without the FIFTY SHADES twist, I appreciated the way in which Haynes kept the reader guessing who the killer was. Fans of Crombie's series with Duncan and Gemma might like this new series as well, for the complex ways work and home life cross, and the challenges a smart woman faces as she rises up the ranks.
