"On a frigid January night, Chief of Police Russ Van Alstyne and Reverend Clare Fergusson are called to the scene of a raging fire that quickly becomes a double homicide and kidnapping. Which is the very last thing Russ needs. Currently he's struggling with the prospect of impending fatherhood. And his new wife is not at all happy with his proposal for their long-delayed honeymoon: a week in an ice-fishing cabin. The vestry of St. Alban's Church has called for the bishop to investigate Clare's 'unpriestly' pregnancy. She has one week to find out if she will be scolded, censured, or suspended from her duties. Officer Hadley Knox is having a miserable January as well. Her on-again-off-again lover, Kevin Flynn, has seven days to weigh an offer from the Syracuse Police Department that might take him half a state away. As the days and hours tick by, Russ and Clare fight personal and professional battles they've never encountered. In the course of this one tumultuous week the lives of the Millers-Kill residents readers have come to love and cherish change forever. Readers have waited years for this newest book and Julia Spencer-Fleming delivers with the exquisite skill and craftsmanship that have made her such a success"--

Reasonably fast paced; kept my interest;however, the events, in some instances seemed highly unlikely. I can't see professional police officers making some of the decisions that these ones did.

This book was so exciting I could hardly put it down! I have enjoyed this entire series, but this one was action-packed. I am looking forward to seeing what happens next!

Once again, Spencer-Fleming writes a novel I can't put down. And it was a perfect snowy day to read this mystery which occurs during a terrible snow and ice storm in upstate New York.
An eight-year-old girl, recent recipient of a kidney donation, is abducted from the foster home she is living in, with an attempt to cover up the evidence with a fire.
Russ and Clare are supposed to be on their honeymoon, trying out a remote cabin with an eye to buying it. Russ has some ice-fishing in mind, and both have a lot on their minds.
With the abduction news coming after the two are away, weather stymies their return to Millers Kill, and threatens their lives.
There is much drama here, with a little girl's life in the balance and a large drug operation at the center.
A side story between the two young Millers Kill police officers Hadley and Kevin also moves forward in an interesting way.
A well-done installation in one of my favourite mystery series.

Excellent continuation of this series. I absolutely love following the relationship of Clare and Russ. Through the Evil Days is a great page turner, was on the edge of my seat at times. New relationships emerged in this one and the cliffhanger end made me hungry for more. I hope it doesn't take too long for the next book to come out, I can't wait to see what happens!

Awesome book in a really good mystery series. It is not necessary to read all the previous books in the series to enjoy this one but if you have an opportunity to start at the begining it would be great. This was a page turner and ended with a big cliffhanger. Highly recommended.
