Anyone who believes that the Jews went "like lambs to the slaughter" in the Holocaust need only to read this book in order to be disabused of the notion. This book details the many ways in which they and numerous others fought back -- uprisings in the extermination camps, the Warsaw ghetto uprising, partisan groups which engaged in behind-the lines sabotage, even efforts to sabotage Nazi war materiel in the factories, at point of manufacture. Carefully researched and amply illustrated, including many touching poems. Highly recommended.

The Nazis did their best to destroy all Jews, but both Jews and non-Jews fought back, doing their best to thwart the Nazis. Here are accounts of those who used their courage, ingenuity, and resolve to save others—or die trying. Illus. with photos.
