VERY GOOD 1934 Shirley Temple at age 6 film. She had already been in a dozen films and, as usual, delivers diverse and enjoyable film presence.
I also rather enjoyed the performance of new to me actress Jane Withers who played Joy, the bad girl older daughter of the Smythes.

I was curious to see just what all the fuss about Shirley Temple was, so I watched a few of her movies. She is quite cute, but all the stories seem to be quite similar, involving a tragedy of some kind and who will take care of her afterwards. I guess it would be enjoyable for kids, but not for someone who wants a stimulating plot.

As I child, I had been told I looked like Shirley Temple. This is the first of her movies that I've seen and now I get the comparison. My curl-haired child also loved Shirley's hair. It is scary when the accident happens in the movie, but I talked my children through it.
