This is the second volume of a four-volume history of the Teamster union battles of the 1930s by labor activist Farrell Dobbs (1907-1983), who helped initiate the Minneapolis truck drivers strike of 1934 and worked as a full-time union organizer with the Teamsters until 1939, when he assumed the position of labor secretary of the newly-formed Socialist Workers Party. This volume begins with the aftermath of the Minneapolis Teamsters strike and tells the story of how the Teamsters expanded union power throughout the Upper Midwest of the United States. Features a rich collection of photos depicting the labor and political battles of the 1930s. Annotation ©2009 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
