—John Lescroart on Abandon

For Will Innis and his daughter, Devlin, the loss was catastrophic. Will’s wife, Devlin’s mother, vanished one night during an electrical storm on a lonely desert highway and, suspected of her death, Will took his daughter and fled. Then one night, a hardedged FBI agent appears on their doorstep and says, “I know you’re innocent, because Rachael wasn’t the first…or the last.”

& Taylor

After his wife vanishes during a storm, Will goes into hiding with his daughter to avoid a wrongful conviction, until a FBI agent finds him five years later, seeking his help in solving the mystery behind a series of similar disappearances.

Positives: Zero-friction read. Very approachable for all skill levels. Not overwhelming.

Negatives: Bite-sized chapters left a lot of white space on the page tricking you into thinking the book is longer than it is. 9th grade reading level required.

I loved this book. Fast paced. Kept me turning page.

I don't think the author has ever experienced real snow or has a clue about the logistics of getting supplies to the location where the later action takes place. Interesting concept, poorly executed, completely implausible.

I loved Crouch's novel Abandon, so I had high hopes for this one. It is not really a horror story, more like a revenge story. I did enjoy it, it has an interesting plot. I just wasn't blown away. It felt a little predictable at times.

Absolutely amazing of those books you just want to cozy up to the fireplace with...and you can't put it down...numerous twists and turns...very suspenseful!
