In this story, the little wolf (not to be confused with the big bad wolf) can't get to sleep. He decides he needs a teddy bear, but he doesn't know where teddy bear comes from. He goes on a quest to find out where teddy bears come from so that he can get one. He goes from one fairy tale home to another (three bears, little red riding hood, etc.) until he bumps into a jolly old man who finally says he can help the wolf.

Even though this story seems like a typical story line and is very repetitive, it flows very well. After each page you are curious as to where he will go next.

The illustrations are a modern, angular cartoon style. I do not prefer this style of illustration as it does not help the story flow. It actually distracted me often while reading the story. On the first two pages, I had to look everywhere for the wolf the story was talking about. I prefer illustrations that are clear and enable me to zero in on what is important right away.

At the beginning of this story, you believe you are looking for the answer to a profound question, but instead you end up with a Christmas story (Santa brings teddy bears.) The question is never fully answered because the last line of the book is, "And that might not be where all teddy bears come from, but it's where this little wolf got his."

This book is advertized for ages four and up. I believe elementary aged children will enjoy this style of story and illustration the most.
