This has to be one of my favorite books of all time

This was a great book. However, this book will not make sense unless you have seen the Death note anime or read the manga. You see, this book plays a trick on the reader, because if you assume knowledge from the manga/anime this book completes its purpose. if not, than this book is just a waste of time.

A reader who wasn't familiar with the manga (or one of the adaptations, I guess) wouldn't be able to follow this book at all. I view that as a serious flaw, even though I'm a fan of the manga and thought this was an enjoyable addition to the franchise.

I loved it. As anything "Death Note", it was well thought out and exciting. The clues were very interesting and I found myself trying to decipher the mystery along with the characters. I was very pleased with this novel.

Yet another great novel that helps readers in on the life of this reclusive detective...

I have become a corpse. I cannot answer. I am dead.
