This book was fascinating! The reason most people have to pick up this book is to learn about the various beliefs regarding unicorns in history, and it explains just that! Everything from understanding the design of the animal, to the magical powers of its horn, to its popular use of symbolism by kingdoms and religions. This book has it all.

There was only one potential negative, depending on your interests or tastes. The author attempts to answer WHY the beliefs are what they are, HOW they come to be. And a lot of it isn't possible to find out due to lack of evidence. Instead, the author explores the time periods and proposes the most likely of possibilities via an educated analysis of the times. Not everyone will like this, as it isn't simply what people believed, but an exploration of the beliefs and where they originated. I found this to be the most intriguing aspect of the book, but I've read a lot of reviews where people did not enjoy it.

If you love unicorns, want to know the various beliefs about them, and want to ponder how people could believe in them for thousands of years without realizing they are fake (unless they aren't fake), then this book is certainly for you!
