Kelsey Byden is twenty-six, and she's starting over. She has made a clean break from her husband and is ready for a brand-new life without him.
But to Kelsey's shock, another person from her past has surfaced: her mother, Naomi Chadwick. Kelsey's father, an English professor, had told her that her mother was dead, and Kelsey had seen no reason to doubt his word. But now she's learned the truth: Naomi has been in prison all these years - for the murder of her lover.
Now Kelsey is on her way to Three Willows, her mother's splendid Virginia horse farm, putting her future on hold to sort out the mysteries and deceptions of the past. But as the bond between mother and daughter is reforged, and Kelsey is swept into the glamorous world of thoroughbred racing - and an unsettling new romance - she is about to discover that the present holds dangerous secrets as well.
Once again, Nora Roberts crafts a dazzling thriller filled with fast-paced suspense and furious passion - an unforgettable story of the deepest, and the darkest, desires of the heart.

I've always had a soft spot for her horse related novels and this was no exception -- I loved it! The way Roberts describes the horses, and the farms, and the racing just makes you want to go buy a horse. She writes such a rich atmosphere in her books and I loved that about this one. Even when we're seeing the uglier side of horse racing, you felt like you really saw into the real world of the Derby and horse breeding.

True Betrayals was ok. I only wished that Nora Roberts (the author), would concentrate only on the mystery of the book and not the romance between Kelsey and Gabe. And, the book got a little boring mentioning horse racing for two-hundred pages because I thought it would be exciting. But, it wasn't.

Has far as I can remember, I have been reading since I was three yrs old...and I have to tell you this is my first time reading a book that I don't like not even one of the characters. they have no depth... the sex lack luster...the story-line is not believable, I just didn't feel anything.
