I loved this book. It's one of very few that will stick with me. The story and characters were so clear to me. The weaving of the story between them was seamless and the ending so sad. Although the story had political undertones, I felt the story held itself up regardless of your political affiliation. I will read it again. To the other commenter, Tagenav (is that spelled right) was necessary to keep Leo alive, but at the end of the day, I would have dumped Leo and taken up with Andrei.
I think "We the Living" offers an interesting perspective citizenship under communism. I was confused by the main character, Kira's relationship with Andrei Taganov. Kira's will power left lasting impression on me. She's a heroine.
