The disappearances of two young girls from a local academy bring back terrifying memories for Rouge Kendall, a young policeman whose own twin sister had been murdered in a similar case some fifteen years earlier, and his classmate, forensic psychologist Ali Cray

Blackwell North Amer
It is three days before Christmas, and two young girls have disappeared from the local academy. This hasn't happened for fifteen years, since Rouge Kendall's twin sister was murdered. The killer was found, but now Rouge, twenty-five and a policeman, is forced to wonder: Was he really the one? Also wondering is a former classmate named Ali Cray, a forensic Psychologist with scars of her own. The pattern is the same, she says: a child called out to meet a friend. The friend is the bait, the Judas child, and is quickly killed, but the primary victim lives longer...until Christmas Day.

This is in my top ten favorite books. The reviews above do it justice, maybe too many spoilers. I review for NetGalley and Goodreads. It's about time for me to reread.

At first the characters draw you into this great thriller. Then the plot kicks in & that's it....turn off the phone & find a comfortable chair because you won't be able to stop reading. This bad guy is truly a monster. With each chapter, O'Connell slowly reveals more clues from the past as well as the present as two crime cases mesh & police race to save two little girls. As with her Det. Mallory series, she has created a rich, atmospheric story that makes this stand alone novel a great read.
