The main conclusion I reached after reading this book is that Marcia Clark and Chris Darden were perhaps to two most incompetent prosecutors in legal history. The LAPD gave them a slam-dunk case and yet they botched it on a monumental scale by not presenting a mountain of incriminating evidence at the trial. Why? Because the cops were the "bad guys" and any evidence they collected would infuriate the jury, they argued. Of course, when you had a jury with a collective IQ of 90, even Perry Mason would have trouble getting a conviction. But definitely read this book along with Vincent Bugliosi's book on the OJ trial. Although twenty years has passed, the themes are still relevant today. That is justice taking a back seat to the appeasement of a mob drunk with indignation, fueled largely by a leftist media that doesn't let inconvenient facts get in the way of a race-baiting narrative.
